Meet Rachel Hayden!

My goal with  Mom Vs. Food Allergy is to share our challenges and victories, educate those with & without food allergies, and pass on recipes & tips that have made our journey a little more bearable.   I’m a food allergy mom, baker, cook, wife, and blogger. Welcome to this part of my food allergy journey where I’ll share what I think, what we eat, and food allergy news.

 

2. Which of your blog posts are you most proud of and why?

I am most proud of three posts:  Rants of a Food Allergy Mom, Dairy Free Goldfish Crackers, and An Allergen Free 4th Birthday Celebration.  .
I am most proud of my “Rants” post because I received an overwhelming response of “thank-you” messages for writing it.  Readers could really relate to it well.  The Dairy Free Goldfish Crackers post was  featured on Daiya’s Facebook page, and that made me very proud.  The Birthday Celebration post made me proud because I was so happy with how the party, pictures, and ultimately the allergen free (delicious!) food turned out.

3. Which panel topic do you look forward to hearing most and why?

It’s hard to narrow down which topics I’m looking forward to the most, but if I had to pick I’d choose “The Art of Recipe Development” and “Nitty-Gritty Make it Pretty: Blog Tips and Tricks”.  I’m eager to learn from all of the panel topics, and wish I could clone myself so I could attend Track 1 and Track 2 at the same time!

4. What is the best thing about food allergies? 

The best thing about food allergies, is that it has forced our family to eat healthy, whole foods the majority of the time, and that’s always a good thing.  It has also helped me to become more confident and outspoken, specifically for my child’s safety and well-being.

5. What motivated you to start blogging about food allergies?

Friends, my brother, and a husband who kept encouraging me to start blogging motivated me the most.  Also, the need for a therapeutic outlet from the stress of raising a child with life-threatening food allergies motivated me to blog.  Another factor that motivated me was the interest in helping and encouraging other moms that are dealing with the same situations that I am.  Lastly, I wanted to spread awareness of the severity and reality of food allergies
