My name is Wendy Lazor. I’m a six year veteran of managing multiple food allergies and a writer at heart. My blog,allergyfreekitchens.com, was born out of a desire to be an encourager and a help to others learning to live the free life.
What is the best thing about food allergies? We eat more whole foods and most of our treats are healthier than their allergen-laden counterparts. Seriously, before I ditched dairy I never would have thought a serving of ice cream could satisfy 24% of my daily fiber intake. 😉
What motivated you to start blogging about food allergies? Compassion. Some handle their child’s food-allergy diagnosis with poise and confidence. I did not. I worried. I was anxious. I tried to put on a good front, but inside I was a mess. Over time, that took its toll and I had no choice but to learn how to live free from fear. I’m on the other side of it now, but those experiences stirred a compassion in me to encourage others who may find themselves where I once was – afraid. Yes, it is possible to enjoythe free life!
What is the best thing about the online food allergy community? Variety. I am grateful for the various personalities and approaches people have to living with food allergies. You can’t help but find someone who relates to what you’re experiencing. There’s great comfort in that.
What other blogger has inspired you? Lauren Kossack of epifamily.com. How can you not be encouraged after taking a stroll through her blog?
